Overheard is a menu bar application for Apple Silicon Macs that records online calls without joining as a virtual bot. It captures system audio using Core Audio process taps and your microphone on a separate track, working with Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Slack huddles, and other audio sources. For transcription, it supports ElevenLabs Scribe in the cloud or Cohere Transcribe running locally on your Mac using MLX. It automatically generates summaries, action items, decisions, and speaker diarization. You can search, edit, export transcripts, or query your meetings directly from Claude using the included Model Context Protocol server. The application stores meetings as plain files in a local folder.
