Confess
Confess: Git pre-push gate tool that pauses pushes for AI-assisted commits to capture human explanations in a repository log.
Confess is a local Git pre-push gate designed for AI-assisted work. When a commit carries markers such as Co-Authored-By from tools like Claude, Copilot, Cursor, Codex, or Aider, the push pauses until the user answers three questions about what the code does, how it might break, and how to verify it. The answers and any skips are appended to a CONFESSIONS.md file in the repository so the trace travels with the code. It uses pure Python with zero runtime dependencies and includes an optional MCP server for agents. The tool never calls an LLM, never amends history, and never scores answers, relying instead on human-signed traces.
