ColPali
ColPali is an open-source framework for building multi-vector embeddings of documents using vision language models for document retrieval.
ColPali creates multi-vector embeddings to retrieve documents based on their visual and textual content. It functions by converting page images into representations that maximize similarity to search queries using the ColBERT late-interaction architecture. This approach enables the system to consider visual elements like charts and layouts without requiring distinct layout recognition or optical character recognition tools. Users can implement these models to analyze and index documents for information retrieval tasks. While the original colpali-engine library is deprecated for production, the models are now integrated into the Sentence Transformers library.
