SpiderMonkey
SpiderMonkey is a coding harness that uses an always-on decision loop to steer coding agent attention.
Spidermonkey is an always-on System 1 research prototype designed for coding agents. It samples the live machine, including processes, memory, ports, logs, and watched commands, alongside the agent trace every couple of seconds. A small decision model named Jev judges what matters and how urgently, steering attention by adding notes to tool results, interrupting stuck commands, or waking the agent when something breaks. It operates in a read-only mode, meaning it never edits files or stops other programs. The prototype helps agents in blind spots, reducing hung test run durations and saving steps for weaker models during tasks.
SpiderMonkey at a glance
Key features
- Samples machine state and agent traces every few seconds
- Judges relevance and urgency using a small decision model
- Steers agent attention with notes on upcoming tool results
- Interrupts agents when commands become stuck
- Wakes agents when processes break after completion
- Operates in a read-only manner without editing files
Use it for
- Steering coding agents during live machine changes
- Detecting and interrupting hung test runs
- Guiding weaker models through complex benchmark tasks
