Skill Spotter is a Claude Code plugin designed to notice tasks and instructions that users keep repeating. It runs locally on the computer, keeping all recorded prompts and shell commands in a local SQLite database without uploading data or using telemetry. It matches tasks based on both wording and actions like tools, files, and commands, recognising multi-prompt workflows and recognising instructions that should be added to CLAUDE.md files. Users stay completely in control, deciding whether to draft a skill or add a rule using dedicated commands. The tool requires Claude Code and Python 3.9 or higher on the system path, with no additional installation packages required for basic functionality. Optional packages can be downloaded for enhanced background grouping capabilities.
