Safeagent
Safeagent is a development tool that runs coding agents in lightweight and safe Linux virtual machines.
Safeagent provides an isolated Linux virtual machine for every git worktree used by coding agents like Claude Code. It ensures parallel coding sessions do not collide and prevents agent-executed code from accessing the host machine. Each virtual machine includes its own processes, ports, PostgreSQL, Valkey, and Temporal instances, along with a copy of their data. The tool automatically reads configuration from repository lockfiles, compose files, and environment files without requiring manual setup. Supported runtimes and commands like node, npm, and python run inside the virtual machine, while git and other host commands run locally. It currently supports macOS on Apple Silicon with Linux hosts in development.
Safeagent at a glance

- Provides isolated PostgreSQL, Valkey, and Temporal services
- Routes package manager commands into the virtual machine automatically
- Forwards application ports to the host machine safely
- Integrates with Claude Code through hooks and a plugin
- Detects project dependencies and services from existing configuration files
- Supports custom configuration via safeagent.yaml
Use it for
- Running parallel coding sessions without port or database conflicts
- Executing agent-driven code changes inside an isolated environment
- Managing independent databases for separate git branches
- Testing application builds and migrations safely
